Introduction:
I am a newbie in coding and an university student in Hong Kong, I am very interested in algorithmic trading and quantitative finance (it's also what I am studying in university). I want to code my own "algorithmic trading bot" on the platform QuantConnect, which is a platform which provide python-based coding environment and the infrastructure for quants or amateur who want to be involved or have a taste in quantitative finance to use. QuantConnect is a robust and popular platform(Quantopian closed…)so I decided to start making my own bot with this platform. Btw my english may be hard to understand since it's not my mother tounge Sorry~. Also, I am just a student so I cannot afford a much higher bid(like 3x – 4x of my budget, which is 750USD).
Job:
I am looking for a person who is more like a mentor to help me build my own algorithmic trading bot and advance my skills and knowledge in this field. I may look for solution or suggestions about coding, trading strategies, etc from you. (Mainly coding I think e.g. I have an idea but I dun know how to code it). It may last for 3-6 months and during this period I may constantly seeking advice or solution from you via messaging apps like WhatsApp / telegram. Sometimes maybe a short call and sometimes maybe we can do some research together?
Aim:
At the moment that I am typing this description, I am working on a simple algorithmic trading bot aiming to trade US equities or crypto simply with the support resistance breakout strategy. I am looking for a person is skilled at python and utilizing different python packages that related to data science. I am not looking for a guy who is skilled at developing website and apps but skilled at developing algorithms and data science(as I know algo trading requires lots of data science knowledge right? such as linear regression, machine learnings and data structuring. Am I right?).
Bonus:
Here are some qualities or skills which I also looking for. First, if you was / are a quant, though I understand that there will not be many quants doing freelance but if you have related experience (e.g. worked as a quant in two sigma, sth like that) I can pay much higher LoL. Second, if you have experience related to algorithmic trading / quant trading, I would be glad to pay higher if you are really helpful. Third, if you are good at data science and have basic knowledge about trading and finance it would also be a bonus.
All in all, I think you get what I am looking for. I understand that my bid may not be too high but if you are looking for the fulfillment you can gain from this job, this job may suits you since I will work hard!!!
