Basketball-Inspired Public Art Installations : Cj Hendry

Cj Hendry’s upcoming public installation, the HOOPS Tree, is poised to make a splash in Miami on December 6th, coinciding with Design Miami and Art Basel. As an artist known for her larger-than-life works, Hendry’s tribute to Miami’s basketball culture manifests in a 20ft deep ocean-blue basketball tree featuring 34 hoops arranged in a chandelier-like design. This permanent public installation was made possible through a collaboration between Cj Hendry and the Miami City Council. The HOOPS Tree promises to seamlessly blend with the vibrant Wynwood arts district and the scenic Biscayne Bay.

Cj Hendry’s venture into large-scale exhibitions showcases her innovative approach, fusing engineering and creativity with the playful and whimsical style that defines her artistic portfolio. Notably, the launch of HOOPS Tree introduces an engaging incentive, offering a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can successfully score 34 baskets in a row across each hoop, captured on video during the opening until December 9th.
