Geometrically-Optimized Mountain Bikes : r x1000

The R.X1000 is a new electric all-mountain bike from Rotwild, a German brand that specializes in high-performance bikes. The R.X1000 features a full carbon frame made from high modulus carbon fibers, a Fox suspension system with 150 mm of travel, and a mullet tire setup with a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear wheel. The bike has a modern geometry that is optimized for climbing and descending, with a low center of gravity, a short chainstay, and an open bridge triangle that connects the chainstays to the front triangle without a bridge.

The most innovative aspect of the R.X1000 is the Motor-Gearbox-Unit (MGU) from Pinion, a German company that produces high-quality gearboxes for bikes. The MGU combines a powerful motor with an integrated 12-speed transmission, eliminating the need for a derailleur and cassette. The motor delivers 85 Nm of torque and is powered by a 960 Wh battery that provides ample range for long rides. The transmission shifts electronically and smoothly, offering precise and consistent gear ratios. The MGU is positioned low at the bottom bracket, reducing the unsprung weight in the rear and improving the suspension performance. The R.X1000 is available in two versions: the Pro and the Ultra, with different components and colors. The price starts from €9,999 for the Pro and €11,999 for the Ultra. The bike is expected to be available in early 2024.
