Safety-Focused Drinking Mugs : anti-choke mug

This anti-choke mug has been designed by researchers at the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand as a piece of drinkware for healthcare patients and seniors alike to ensure a safer sipping experience.

The mug maintains a relatively simple appearance from the outside, but reveals a specialized form on the interior that will provide water in a slower, positioned manner to reduce the instance of choking. This would work well for patients who have neurological diseases and the elderly to help them stay hydrated or more easily take medications. The mug is presently in the prototype phase.

The anti-choke mug could, upon being finalized, allow patients and seniors alike to more confidently drink water freely without supervision by healthcare workers, doctors or family members.
