Smart Industrial Hardhats : the communicator

Guardhat and United Safety created ‘The Communicator,’ a smart hardhat that aims to improve overall workforce safety. This hardhat is equipped with a variety of sensors designed to monitor the environment and increase situational awareness. The Communicator is also equipped with indoor and outdoor real-time positioning, audio-visual telecommunications, and asset identification features.

The Communicator is certified ANSI.Z89.14 Type I Class-G for industrial use, meaning that aside from its connected features, it is proven safe and protective. This hardhat can help the wearer detect potential collisions, fall risks, environmental changes, moving or static equipment, and even identify assets using BLE and RFID combined. To keep workers connected, The Communicator is equipped with VOIP technology for quick and easy hands-free communications, even from far distances.

The Communicator connects to a hub application called the ‘Communicator Center,’ where users can perform or automate safety check-ins, and can monitor the status of each helmet in real-time. The monitoring is extensive and accounts for gas, radiation, noise, exertion, and more.
