Socially Motivating Companion Robots : Mori companion robot

The conceptual ‘Mori’ companion robot has been designed by YeEun Kim and Taewan Kim as a social motivation-encouraging solution that would help to keep users stimulated.

The robot is targeted towards consumers of all ages, but is particularly relevant for children and seniors who might be dealing with a social anxiety disorder or isolation, respectively. The soft finish of the robot encourages the user to interact with it, while the digital face will respond to the interactions the user has with it. The mood-based conversations users can have with the robot will support positive mental health management on a regular basis.

The conceptual ‘Mori’ companion robot identifies how robotic technology and artificial intelligence (AI) could be used in the near-future to help humans maintain or repair their mental clarity.
